Counseling

There are more lay counselors counseling right now than ever before in OBC's history. It's great to see the first generation of counselors involved in ministry and sharing the counseling load.

Are You...
Anxious, Hurt, Angry, Depressed,
    Troubled, Stressed, Afraid?

Has the peace "which transcends all," that the Apostle Paul wrote of, evaded you in your Christian walk? Even Christians struggle with these and other many issues.

Our lives are full of trials and tribulations that repeatedly test our faith. God never intended His precious children to suffer alone. There is love and healing in Christ Jesus. We are here to help. The OBC Counseling Ministry offers trained counselors who are able to help you and your family work through these issues. With caring and warmth, we will listen and minister to you and your family with the love of Christ and biblical principles to guide us.

Our Counselors

OBC lay-counselors are dedicated men and women committed to helping you.

All of your lay-counselors are trained in biblical counseling; some have counseling degrees.

We are caring, warm Christians who are committed to working through issues with you and your family with tenderness, enthusiasm, humor and faith.

As a ministry, OBC lay-counselors volunteer their time and service.

A counseling questionnaire will be sent to you. Complete and return the questionnaire

You will be referred to a lay-counselor who will contact you to schedule an appointment.

Your first session will be an opportunity for you and your counselor to assess the "fit" between you before committing to further sessions.

Fees

There are no fees charged for services offered by the OBC Lay-Counseling Ministry.

Counseling Training

The counseling programs offered at OBC are staffed by caring, committed Christians who have completed OBC's formal counselor training program. This program introduces "a way of thinking" about yourself, others, God and life that promotes maturity and enhances helping abilities when relating to others. Read an article about a counseling training seminar OBC's counselor's attended.

The OBC Lay-Counseling Training Program has several modules offered throughout the calendar year.  Several who have completed the program have gone on to become lay-counselors, but many have taken the training for there own spiritual growth.

If you have an interest in improving your helping and relational skills or have questions about the OBC Counseling Ministry, please call Matt Huggins at 703.791.4564.
