Benevolence Program
Benevolence offerings are collected on the first Sunday of each month. (Pastor Kyle's Summer '04 sermon series stressed the importance of using our money in biblical ways. Sermon Series Summary).
Anyone requesting benevolence assistance will be offered financial counseling, and must complete the one-page OBC Benevolence Application. Any person or family receiving reoccurring financial assistance will be expected to meet with the Deacon of Stewardship or his designated representative to determine appropriate financial counseling.
The application is reviewed by the Benevolence Committee (Pastor, Elder of Pastoral Care, and Treasurer of the Elder Board). For approved requests less than $1,000 for members and regular attendees, or less than $250 for non-regular attendees, financial assistance is usually made available within one week from the date the application was submitted.
Any requests that exceed $1,000 for members and regular attendees, or $250 for non-regular attendees, will be referred to the Elder Board or the Benevolence Committee for additional review.
