 Overview

Worship is the desire of our hearts. We live to worship God and to find other worshippers for him. Although worship is a 24/7 duty and pleasure, our "worship ministry" focuses on some specific areas of worship within the church.

The chief end of man:
To glorify God and enjoy Him forever.
Westminster Confession of Faith, circa 1646

The Worship Ministry of Occoquan Bible Church exists for the glory and honor of God to instill a passion for God’s presence in congregational and individual worship. Our desire is to create an environment conducive to genuine worship in the life of His church, displaying our awe of and reverence to God.

We will do this as a part of a collegiate corporate body of ministries at OBC, seeking to support, lead, and train when needed or requested. We will give to God in service to the Body, our time and talents, not seeking reward from men but from God. We will consider these sacrifices as a part of our reasonable service to Him who first loved us. (Romans 12:1-8)

This can only happen as we submit to God’s Will, His Word, local church government, and as He empowers us to demonstrate our love and devotion to Him.

Praise God for the gifts and abilities He gives us to serve Him. Praise God for the hearts of service He gives us to serve OBC. Let us all seek the attitude of David in 2 Samuel 24:18-25. Our service will and should cost us something, starting with our commitment to serve the King of Kings through this ministry.

As we serve and worship together it is the responsibility of all involved in the Worship Ministry to read, study, understand, and seek to live by the guidelines and commitments in this handbook, and most importantly God’s word, The Bible.

1TI 6:11 But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses. In the sight of God, who gives life to everything, and of Christ Jesus, who while testifying before Pontius Pilate made the good confession, I charge you to keep this command without spot or blame until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, which God will bring about in His own time--God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see. To Him be honor and might forever. Amen.

2TI 4:6-8 For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time has come for my departure. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day--and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for His appearing.
