Evangelism:  A Way of Life (Starting ~ April 2nd)

This class is aimed at college age and young single adults (ages 18-25).

 

Class Verse:  For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to

give you hope and a future.  Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.  You will seek me and

find me when you seek me with all your heart.  Jeremiah 29:11-13 (NIV)

 

Purpose:  The Connection ministry exists to Challenge, Educate and Equip Young Adults to live for Christ with Passion

and Purpose!

 

Class Vision:  To reach Young Adults with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and equip them with the Truth of God’s Word!

 

Class Objectives:

1.       Engage and connect Young Adults in the reproducing faith community of Occoquan Bible Church (OBC)

  • ACE/Bible Study
  • Service
  • Fellowship (Movies, Dinner Fellowships, Bowling,…)

2.       Foster a compassion for witnessing

 

  • Be able to give an account for what you believe and in whom you have placed your hope (Jesus Christ)

3.       Cultivate a desire to grow into Christian leadership and service

4.       Grasp God’s calling and purpose for your life

5.       Understand what the Bible teaches about key life issues relevant to Young Adults

6.       Provide accountability in relationships and Christian living

7.       Develop a godly character

 

Short-term goals (CY 06):

1.       Form a regular membership in the Connection ministry

2.       Develop and mentor young adult leaders

3.       Hold relevant and challenging bible studies for young adults

4.       Organize monthly to quarterly fellowship events

5.       Complete missions and ministry projects internal or external to OBC

 

Longer-range goals:

1.       Grow OBC Church and Ministry Leaders

2.       Prepare Young Adults for future ministry and service in and out of the church

3.       Develop motivated and mature Christians, striving to live for Christ in all areas of their lives

 

CY 06 Courses:

·         How Then Shall We Live – Francis Schaeffer Video Series

·         Evangelism Related Curriculum

·         Relationships-centric Curriculum – Dating, etc.

·         Financial Management-related Curriculum or meaty Bible Study (dig into the Word)

Evangelism can be intimidating, but it can be a natural and exciting way of life. These studies by Rebecca Pippert and Ruth Siemens will help you to communicate the gospel effectively.
